Meredith Zahirovic has the honor of serving as the Director of Grants for the Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of Louisville, which supports a rural community in Western Kentucky – Muhlenberg County. Meredith leads the Foundation’s Community Grants, Community Leadership, and Spruce Up the ‘Berg competitive grantmaking programs. In addition, she supports several collaborative initiatives between the Foundation and local organizations including the GED Learn & Earn Program, community-wide Health Coalition, as well as other groups convening around the topics of food insecurity, workforce readiness, and other areas that have been identified as opportunities for growth in Muhlenberg. While grantmaking is certainly an area of focus in her position, Meredith believes leadership is relationship, finding her work most impactful when connecting individuals and organizations to resources that not only address immediate needs but also seek to find long-term solutions to systematic issues.
Meredith is a two-time graduate of the University of Evansville, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication in 2008 and a Master of Science in Leadership in 2020 with a concentration on innovation, earning her Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner certificate from IBM (2019). More recently, Meredith completed her Doctor of Education in Leadership degree from Spalding University (2022). In addition to traditional postsecondary education, Meredith has participated in other learning opportunities as a graduate of Leadership Louisville’s Ignite Louisville (2012), the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Muhlenberg (2017), and Leadership Kentucky’s ELEVATE Kentucky (2018), and RUX’s Rural-Urban Exchange (2025) programs.
In her hometown of Louisville, KY, Meredith, along with her young adult son, are active “wish granters” with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky, & Indiana, helping children locally and across the commonwealth. Meredith’s personal and professional lives are centered on community, believing that a life well lived is one in service to others.
